First I must remind myself this is an _IdeaPad_ therefore there is no TrackPoint. Second, the good news is if it’s anything like the touch pad on my S10 IdeaPad, it’s the best touch pad I’ve used. And it will certainly serve as a very close second to the much beloved TrackPoint.
OK, so now that we have that issue out of the way, the remaining issue which is a very serious one, speaking for myself, is Lenovo’s choice of including a very small right shift key. It’s a good thing that I noticed that right before placing my order, as I’m not sure I’m willing to put up with such a mistake. Many have been critical of the smaller keyboards on netbooks, but I find them easy to adapt to, and I have big hands. On the S10 it also has a small shift key, but Lenovo was very smart in it’s placement. It’s carefully placed at the outside border even with the far end of the enter key. This makes using it very easy as my fingers are already aware of the outboard limits of the keys. But to have to reach down, and in to the left, to find the right shift key on the U350 is something that I’m not ready to learn how to do. So that’s my take on it. For some it may not be a big deal at all. I will take a wait and see approach as I’ve not yet read a review. Time will tell.
