Lenovo prototype laptop submitted to FCC

Lenovo recently submitted some documents to the FCC for a laptop, indicating a new model coming down the pipeline.

We know only a few things about this prototype:

  • 10.1-inch screen
  • 3-in-1 card reader
  • Bluetooth, WiFi, HSDPA (WWAN)

Not long ago Lenovo refreshed the IdeaPad S10-2, and just officially announced new designs for the S10-2, so I don’t think this will be the next netbook. No, not even a ThinkPad netbook.

Rather, I think it is the rumored NVIDIA Tegra/Chrome OS smartbook.

Two shortcomings IMO:
- small keyboard forced by small display
- unique cellular data format (it sounds like one that is getting wide use today, at least by carriers with a GSM history + a few CDMA-history carriers doing overlays, but formats are evolving quickly to get higher data speeds)
