Analysis
Whew, that’s a lot of laptops. Overall these deals meet or beat the best prices we’ve seen throughout the year, so this is a legitimately good sale. The W700 in particular is an amazing purchase if you need that type of mobile horsepower. The X Series deals are as good we’ve ever seen, as are the T400 and T500 deals, but the T400s seems like it was a hair cheaper at one point. And the X200s is available with the high res screen too!

On the IdeaPad side there are some great deals to be had across the board, the Y450 or U450p being my favorite. $254 for the IdeaPad S10-2 is a great price, but the lack of a 6-cell battery is a downer. If you can locate one cheap enough, you can have two batteries and a good netbook. The IdeaPad S12 with the awesome NVIDIA Ion graphics are pretty sweet deals considering how new these products are, but I can’t help but feel as though a better deal will be had before the year is out.

Important note: IdeaPad systems are NOT configurable for the most part, so there are more pre-set configurations. We are featuring the low end configurations here, but you can generally find a higher spec’d model if you want. Higher specs generally include faster processors, more storage, more RAM and sometimes discrete graphics.

Windows Vista & Windows 7
Also many of the cheaper models are still preloaded with Vista and are being cleared out. You are STILL eligible for the Windows 7 upgrade by mail. You DO have to pay a charge for the processing & shipping (likely a $20-30 charge) and it will take at least a few weeks to receive the upgrade; it is NOT an instant process!

Enhanced Experience
One final caveat to the Vista preloaded models: if your system does not come preloaded with Windows 7, you will not get Lenovo’s optimized Windows 7 installation known as “Enhanced Experience.” The EE models are supposed to boot and overall run faster in a noticeable way. Read more here.
