Hopefully you’ve seen the ridiculously long list post about Lenovo’s Black Friday deals; if not, check it out! Well in addition to those deals, Lenovo will be running one-day sales every day from now until November 30th, with a ThinkPad and an IdeaPad featured each day. Check back here each day for the details on each deal and a hint as to what products will be on sale the next day. On to today’s deals:
Analysis
These are pretty sweet deals. While we’ve seen 20% off ThinkPad T Series before, it’s never resulted in such a low price. The T500 usually runs a bit more than the T400, but here you can get a robust and reliable 15.4″ notebook for only $623. The base specs are plenty sufficient for most people and you can add your own RAM for pretty of course.
The IdeaPad S12 deal is a killer one that we would be lucky to see again in time for Christmas. Equipped with NVIDIA’s Ion graphics, the S12 can play HD video and even get some gaming on. When Adobe’s Flash update adds NVIDIA GPU acceleration later in 2010, you can even watch high res Flash videos like Hulu and YouTube. I liked the IdeaPad S12 when I reviewed a regular version and this one even has HDMI to output video to your HDTV.

Hint for tomorrow: One of Lenovo’s newest notebooks and another that will make Intel-haters happy

Sorry if this is off topic but, The X200 multi-touch is no longer available. I have been waiting three months for the black Friday sale and now when I go to purchase its gone. Any idea what is going on here?
Well, it is indeed gone, my guess would be that availability of that display became constrained and they had to pull it. Or it is a web glitch and will hopefully be fixed soon. Don’t hesitate to call Lenovo also, they might be able to tell you something more.
Thanks John,
I tried calling them, closed for the holiday. I posted over in the Lenovo forum regarding this. I was hoping it was just an availability issue and not some kind of quality control problem. Hopefully I’ll find out tommorow
Mike
I just called Lenovo…
They said the multitouch screen is out of stock until mid-december.
I said fine, can I place my order now to get the 20% discount and then you ship it to me when it comes in?
They said no.
OK I called Lenovo again.
This time they said I COULD order it but that was 8 weeks back-ordered. (which is much worse than 2)
-Sigh- now I have to decide if I want to wait that long or not.
Be warned that it could be delayed yet again during that 8 weeks. If I were you, I would wait. Hell, in 8 weeks the X210 Tablet will probably be out!
I spoke to someone very helpful at Lenovo who explained to me that there were quality issues with the multi-touch screen so Lenovo switched suppliers. As there was such a tremendous back log of orders for the screen their supply went quickly and are currently just trying to fill back orders with their dwindling current supply. He told me I could place the order with the discount and then wait the “expected” 8 weeks for mine to ship. As John said though it would not surprise me if the date gets pushed even further back. Very disappointing, Lenovo really dropped the ball on this one.
Yeah I figured 8 weeks meant 12… and 3 months is a lifetime in tech.
So I’ll be waiting for the x210 or some other yet released technowonder that grabs my fancy.
Probably a good idea. CES should bring us news of all the new products, only a little over a month away.
I would have no problem waiting for CES and Lenovo’s new products but, right now the x200 multi-touch tablet loaded can be had for about $1600. I don’t believe this will be the case with the X210, especially when its new. We will see though.
Actually that’s the problem: The multi-touch x200 CAN’T be had at all right now. As my grandfather used to say “it’s easy to have the best price in town if you don’t have any in stock”
And frankly I don’t want to give anyone 2 grand now for something I’ll get in 3 months…
This is true Mike. The X210T should have some improvements, but they won’t be worth the premium at first. Give it a few months and there will likely be better deals that make it a decent value, but still not as good a deal as the X200T’s are now.
Also, take what the rep said about X200T quality issues with a grain of salt; I’ve heard many conflicting stories from reps. The bottom line is they don’t always have the latest or right information.
Still, there aren’t many multi-touch display manufacturers, so a disruption in their supply chain would certainly cause backlog issues.
