The ThinkPad W500 is an awesome deal for anyone who values a high performance machine. A speedy Core 2 Duo processor, sweet WUXGA display and ATI workstation-class graphics are all standard. It may not be ideal for taking everywhere you go, but the W500 is about as good as it gets for a fully featured mobile workstation.

The G450 is a bit more of an interesting character. While not particularly standout with its design, which is likely bought straight from an ODM rather than being built in-house, you can’t argue with the features for the money. You get a powerful 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, not a watered down Pentium, 4GB DDR3 RAM and Windows 7 Home Premium 64. You even get NVIDIA GeForce G 210M 512MB graphics, not commonly found at this price point. This machine is leaps and bounds above a CULV or netbook at this price and at least from the specs, should last you quite a while.
