Just a few days ago we saw the launch of a few brand new ThinkPads with the Edge lineup and X100e netbook-killer. These newborn-baby-new models are already available for purchase on Lenovo.com, and on sale to boot.

ThinkPad Edge
The low-end Edge 13 with AMD dual core processor and Midnight Black glossy paint starts at only $579, but if you want to attract attention with the Heatwave Red paint job you’ll need to pony up for the $699 model that has double the RAM, larger & fast HDD and a 6-cell battery. Only one Edge 13 model is available with the Intel Core 2 Duo CULV chip and it’s in Midnight Black glossy with a $799 price tag. Click here to read our posts about the Edge

ThinkPad X100e
Lenovo has three different configuration levels for the X100e and you will find a better value in the higher end configs rather than just building up the base model. You do get a choice of black or red paint, along with all the other usual goodies. Sadly, 7200rpm hard drives aren’t an option at this time. Pricing starts at $449, and there is no charge for one color over another. Click here to read our posts about the X100e

Too bad you can’t get 64 bit windows on the X100e, even though you can get 4 gigs of RAM…
That is lame, but give them time. I’m sure we will see 64-bit OS options eventually.
there doesn’t appear to be any value to choosing the higher models.
It looks like for 100 dollars more, you get an extra gb of DDR2, and a bigger HDD. and for another 100, all you get is WWAN.
If you don’t need WWAN, and configure the base model with 2gb and 250gb, its cheaper than the pre-configured one….
maybe the Lenovo optimization might be a sham. What if you install a SSD and configure everything yourself? Not too sure of what “optimization” is other than tweaking windows registry and stuff like that.
Just wanted to say that it would have been awesome if there was a Tablet configuration for this machine…. I just can’t wait until they announce the X210 series!
Me too, I can’t seem to find any info on the x210. I hope they announce it soon, I also hope after purchasing they don’t make you wait two months for the machine
