Lenovo announces new entry level ThinkServer models

by John Hobbes , posted 07/30/10 8:41 PM

Apparently still determined to break into the server market, Lenovo recently announced three new server models that bring lower-than-ever price points to the ThinkServer lineup.

The ThinkServer RD230 is a 1U rack model with up to 4 hot-swappable, RAID 5 capable SATA drives and one or two processors starting at $999.

A larger 2U rack server, the RD240 steps up to 8 possible drives, dual power supplies, RAID 6 and available quad processors. A quad CPU model starts at $1399.

The new rack models also have DVD burners for easier software installation and web-enabled remote management consoles.

Lastly, the TD230 is a tower form factor model with dual processors, up to 32GB RAM and various storage options starting at $829.

Lenovo feels their new servers are the logical expansion for ThinkServer into new, low price points and offering more features than competitors at the same time.

If you are in the market for one of these bad boys, you can pick one up from your friendly neighborhood Lenovo business partner immediately.
