Deal of the day: 20% off select Lenovo ThinkPad T400 & T500

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Lenovo’s making another push to empty its shelves of the “old” ThinkPad T400 and T500 notebooks, now offering 20% off discrete graphics models that are configured over $1250.

While I feel the ThinkPad T410 (Read the review) in particular offers some great functional improvements over the T400, both the T400 and T500 are still very solid machines. Plus, the T500 has a 16:10 aspect ratio display, compared to the T510’s 16:9.

You can get a pretty well loaded ThinkPad T400/T500 for around $1000 after discount, compared to a more bare bones T410 or T510. Unfortunately you shouldn’t look for either of these systems to ship soon, as both are listed with a 4+ week shipment time. We expect this deal to end by March 10th, or sooner depending on volume of orders.

If you are looking for a new model or one that ships faster, Lenovo also has 5-15% off other ThinkPads. LogicBuy has all the details.

Details on how to get the deal are below and hit the jump to check out our recommended configs

  1. Configure your ThinkPad T400 or T500 of choice, with a minimum system price of $1,250

Slew of new Lenovo PCs for sale, including ThinkPad X201 & Tablet

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Our sister-site LogicBuy alerted us that some of Lenovo’s recently announced PCs are now available for purchase, including the ThinkPad X201, ThinkPad X201s, and ThinkPad X201 Tablet ultraportable notebooks.

We covered the announcement of the new X201 models last week, citing the major revisions as Core i5 and i7 processors, an updated fingerprint reader and the optional touchpad. Lenovo also recently updated their handy PSREF documents, which confirm to us that the X201 models officially support a maximum of 8GB RAM, via two 4GB sticks. This is great news for power users, who can now really take advantage of a 64-bit operating system.

Also of note is that the controversial, and optional, touchpad on the X201 is a $20 option. The X201 Tablet is particularly limited in its configuration options: you can’t even get an 8-cell battery, so expect those offers to expand in the coming weeks.

On the opposite side of Lenovo’s laptop spectrum, the value line G455 and G555 laptops are also now for sale. We knew at launch that both would be powered by AMD dual core processors, with the smaller G455 starting at $699 and the G555 at $729.

Lastly, you can also pick up the refreshed IdeaPad Y460. The overall design appears the same as the IdeaPad Y50 when I reviewed it, but with more powerful Core i3 and i5 processors and ATI graphics.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t multitouch netbook $499 with 8-cell

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Lenovo’s IdeaPad S10-3t netbook with convertible multitouch screen is now available with an 8-cell battery and is being sold at NewEgg for only $499 with $5 shipping.

The S10-3 is Lenovo’s latest netbook, announced at CES in January. They also announced the S10-3t version, which transforms the netbook’s 10.1-inch WSVGA screen into a multitouch panel that you can fold flat to use as a slate.

The S10-3 and S10-3t do use Intel’s new Pine Trail Atom processors, with the full specs being standard for netbook fare. You’ll get the 1.66GHz Atom N450 processor, Windows 7 Starter edition, 1GB DDR2 RAM, Intel GMA 3150 graphics, 250GB 5400rpm HDD, WiFi and a webcam for $499 plus $5 shipping.

lenovo_ideapad_s10-3t_netbook_tablet_rear-design

While you may get two color choices through Lenovo.com, Cosmic Wonder and Cosmic Night, the specs are fixed and unimpressive. Compared to the NewEgg model, you get a smaller 160GB HDD and 4-cell battery for $50 more. You also have to wait for Lenovo to build and ship the “customizable” models, currently cited as within 16 days, whereas NewEgg has inventory on hand and generally ships in 1 day.

I’m guessing the “Cosmic Night” color is actually black, whereas the “Cosmic Wonder” is this art-deco color pattern. The NewEgg model is as shown above, in regular glossy black (aka Cosmic Night?). The NewEgg listing has more pictures of this 8-cell equipped IdeaPad, including a shot of the bottom.

Deal of the day: $300 off Lenovo IdeaPad Y550p, $749

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

This deal from Lenovo takes a hefty $300 off their 15.6-inch performance machine, the IdeaPad Y550p. With a speedy Core i5 processor and 1GB NVIDIA graphics for $749, this deal is quite the bargain for performance.

I know we’ve been really focused on ThinkPads lately, so I wanted to bring in an IdeaPad deal of the day. I’ve always been intrigued by the Y550p. I really liked the IdeaPad Y450 I reviewed and the Y550p looks like a larger, faster version of it. While this isn’t the showstopping quad core version, I’d gladly take two cores less in exchange for $300+.

Now don’t expect this beast to last much on battery, after all it’s stuck with the same size battery as its far less power hungry siblings and the NVIDIA GeForce GT240M 1GB graphics will suck their share of juice. Of course this also means you can also output your gaming session over HDMI to an HDTV!

This deal is only good through TOMORROW or when they sell 80 units, so don’t noodle on this one too long. View more details about the Y550p in Lenovo’s tech specs (warning: PDF link) and the details on how to get the deal are below!

Lenovo President’s Day Sale: 5-20% off ThinkPads, 15% off IdeaPads & IdeaCentre A600

Monday, February 15th, 2010
lenovo_ideapad_s10-3t_netbook_tablet_front-open

Lenovo is running a rather nice coupon that will give you some sizable discounts on nearly every one of their products, new and old!

The regular ThinkPad X200 has a very nice 20% off coupon, the only one with that discount in the ThinkPad family, bringing the starting price to under $800. Unfortunately the new Edge and X100e models only get a 5% coupon, while all other ThinkPads are treated to 10% off.

On the IdeaPad side, all of the Y, U and G (value line) series get a nice 15% off. This includes the slick new IdeaPad S10-3 netbooks, notably the S10-3t convertible tablet. This neat little multitouch netbook is discounted to $466! That’s a heckuva price for a perfectly competent multitouch tablet, even if it’s a bit down on horsepower with the Atom platform.

Check out some of the specifics on the deal below, but don’t wait too long. This deal expires on February 17th!

Deal of the weekend: 15% off Lenovo ThinkPad T410s, starting $1189

Friday, February 12th, 2010
lenovo_thinkpad_t410s_front-open

Having just brought the new T410s back for sale on its website, Lenovo is hitting the ground running with a sizable 15% off coupon, bringing the entry price down to $1189.

The T410s is largely unchanged from the T400s, getting an update to Intel’s latest Core i5 processors and supposedly a set of NVIDIA switchable graphics. All the press materials say NVIDIA graphics, but their website is conflicted. But I digress.

Still, the things that made the T400s awesome are still there: a sub-4lb chassis that is less than an inch thick, a decent WXGA+ LCD and respectable, if not long, battery life. I really liked the T400s in my review and am looking forward to getting ahold of the T410s, even if it is just so I can revel in the ’s’ glory.

Details on how to get this deal are below and it will end on February 14th.

Deal of the day: 30% off Lenovo multimedia remote-keyboard

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Today’s hot deal isn’t a PC, but a really cool accessory that is perfect for PCs with a multimedia focus.

The Lenovo Multimedia Remote with keyboard (wordy enough for ya?) has a full Qwerty keyboard, multimedia controls AND a handy trackball. As some of you may recall, I love using a PC as my media center hooked up to an HDTV. A regular wireless mouse works okay to control the PC from the couch. A wireless trackball is even better, as you don’t have to worry about what surface to use it on.

Of course just a pointing device doesn’t help with things like entering a website address or logging into Netflix. That is where this device would come in handy. As long as the trackball works smoothly and the range decent, it should be a damn near ideal solution.

This puppy normally runs $59.99, but can be had for $41.99 after a 30% off coupon. We don’t expect this to last long, so don’t hesitate if you’ve been watching this one. For what it’s worth, this price is even lower than the Lenovo EPP cost, so unless Lenovo dumps another 50% off coupon you won’t find a better price on this.

How to get the deal

  1. Click here to view the Lenovo multimedia remote and add it to your cart
  2. Apply coupon code in shopping cart with no spaces before or after: USPCF16336
