We haven’t mentioned the ThinkPad SL’s in our deals in a while, so here is the latest discount on these puppies. You can pick up an SL400 or SL500 starting at $466 each. A flat $146 discount applies, with a 15% off coupon stacked on for a total of $466 shipped.

It is also worth noting that right now Lenovo is running a special on the SL500 where you can upgrade to the WSXGA+ AntiGlare screen for free as well. Lenovo’s ThinkPad SL400 and SL500 dynamic duo are on sale once again, and if it’s possible, the SL400 is even cheaper. You can pick up an SL400 base model for $389, after $136 off and a stackable $110 coupon. The SL500 is a bit pricier at $459 after a $141 instant discount and $110 stackable coupon. Check out the base specs and links below to get the deal!
ThinkPad SL400
Celeron Dual-core T1600 1.66GHz; 14.1″ LED WXGA; 160GB HDD
Starting in the same price range as the underpowered, defeatured, diminuitive netbooks, Lenovo’s ThinkPad SL400 & SL500 notebooks can be had for a starting price of only $399.
Of course you don’t get much for $399. A dual core Celeron processor. 1GB RAM with Windows Vista. Ugh. But you do get a 160GB HDD, DVD burner, and the screen on the SL400 is LED backlit.
Upgrading to a Core 2 Duo T6570 only costs $50 and is probably your best investment in options. Moving to a single 2GB stick of RAM runs $50, but for that much you can get your own single stick and be at 3GB total. Not too bad for less than $500 out of pocket!
SL400 base config
Celeron Dual-core T1600 1.66GHz; 14.1″ LED WXGA; 160GB HDD
The ThinkPad SL siblings, SL400 and SL500, are once again on sale. Lenovo sure likes discounting these suckers…
Both SL400 and SL500 are $136 off with 15% coupon for a $424 base price. The baseline configurations are below, which you can of course upgrade. Sure they may come with a Celeron and 1GB RAM, but it will probably still be faster than a netbook at the same price!
The ‘ThinkPad-on-a-budget’ SL400 is on sale and this one will surely make you re-think that netbook. There is a $136 instant discount with a stackable 15% coupon that brings the starting total to just $424. You get a lot of the classic ThinkPad features with this badboy and a standard LED backlit screen. Check out the base config details below and hit the link for the scoop on how to claim your SL400.
Celeron 575 2GHz; 14.1″ LED WXGA; 160GB Hard Drive
This one can’t be expected to last long, so get it while it’s hot. Lenovo has an extreme sale on the ThinkPad SL500. A $206 instant discount with stackable 15% coupon brings the price of entry down to a mere $424. While the base config has a lowly Celeron processor, $50 gets you a Core 2 Duo. Check the specs below and hit the link for the deal details. Hurry, these suckers will go out of stock faster than layoffs these days.
Forget netbooks, this deal on the ThinkPad SL is too smokin’ hot to even think about getting a tiny underpowered laptop. The SL series has the basic foundation of the ThinkPad series, but aims to be a bit more mainstream with a six row keyboard, available glossy display, and glossy piano black finish. Don’t forget about the love-it-or-hate-it glowing red “i” in the ThinkPad logo (see video below).
Whether you think this is an abomination to ThinkPad or just a logical evolution, you can’t argue with a deal. The SL300 starts at $499 and SL500 at $449, making these a strong argument against underpowered, defeatured, cramped netbooks. Check out the specs below and hit the link for the deal details.
