(and also the Dell Latitude E series) are giving Lenovo some really good competition. yes i would really love to check out the E-series. ... if E-series has the same issues I am just going to by an older thinkpad. I got my hands on an E-series (E6400) evaluation unit a couple days ago. It's a good ...

Yech... I am not a fan of this kind of flashy consumer-grade notebook. I can understand why Lenovo needs this line of computers though. HP's home notebooks are top sellers, and Dell's XPS M1330 and 1530 have attracted a lot of attention. It'll make Lenovo some nice $ I am sure, but I won't be buying...

I think that there is no need to put super fast CPUs in most notebook computers. Notebooks benefit more from lots of RAM and faster HDDs. Also, bloatware has been destroying much of the gains in computer speed. Bootup speed on a lot of consumer grade machines is abyssmal, and RAM gets filled up with...

MacBook LCDs are glossy. If you work in environments with a lot of overhead lighting, the reflections can be a pain. The MacBook Pro has the option of either the glossy or matte display. I prefer the matte. Overall brightness and evenness of lighting is very good. My favorite notebook displays are t...

Electronics recycling increases polution overseas
I thought people might find this interesting. It seems that electronic stuff that people recycle often ends up piled in some other country: http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/11/18/electronics.trash.ap/index.html While there are no precise figures, activists estimate that 50 to 80 percent of the 300,000 t...

Re: Why am I buying an Lenovo. A Horror Story 1 month old HP
I received my brand new top of the line HP Dv2500t I'm not surprised that support was terrible. The dv2500t is a consumer grade notebook with consumer level support. If you ever buy HP again, make sure to get a business model (like the 6910p). You'll get better build quality and tech support. Best ...

I took good care of my MBP but still there are quite a few small dents here and there. The aluminum alloy casing seems to have been a dent magnet for many years now. I remember seeing PowerBook G4's with lots of small dents in them :? My biggest problem with the MBP is the keyboard. It is mushy and...

Court issues arrest warrant for Lenovo employee?
http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2007/10/08/lenovo-sued PC MANUFACTURER, Lenovo, has earned the ire of honorable Christine Moruza, a California Superior court judge, in recent days. It appears that a $10,000 US bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of an individual who was acting ...

Link Penryn is looking pretty healthy, with limited release for server and high end desktop on Nov. 12th of this year. I'm only wishing that notebook versions would be available soon after, but it looks like we'll have to wait until 2008 for that. The big news is Nehalem. Intel showed off a working...

Mistrust of another person's computer
I've never liked using other people's computers to check my personal email or do anything requiring me to use a login and password. I am shocked at how many people (1) always run in an admin account (2) don't run updates on their antivirus and OS (3) install or allow to be installed, all sorts of we...

I don't dislike widescreen displays, because the extra horizontal rez can be useful for IM lists and system monitoring widgets. However, I agree with the sentiment that lost vertical resolution can be annoying. I really prefer to scroll as little as possible in the text that I am reading or editing.
