I would have been tempted to get this, except I have no $ right now :?

The Z series was always maligned, but I always did like the Z6xt, especially with the titanium lid. The one improvement I would have liked to see was a brighter display.

The D620/630 and D820/830 are well built machines with good keyboards. Aesthetically they are not quite as refined as ThinkPads, but I would have no problem using one.

Impressive.

The only improvement I can think of would be a discrete GPU, but that will probably have to wait until GPU makers create more energy-efficient graphics parts.

I have read that the price ($2600-2700) is as impressive as the specifications.

This looks like a hoax to me. The specs are too good to be true, and everyone from here to Ars Technica is absolutely drooling over it.

Does anyone know if 13.3" displays are even available at that high resolution? That and some of the language in the slides leaves me skeptical.

Yech... I am not a fan of this kind of flashy consumer-grade notebook. I can understand why Lenovo needs this line of computers though. HP's home notebooks are top sellers, and Dell's XPS M1330 and 1530 have attracted a lot of attention. It'll make Lenovo some nice $ I am sure, but I won't be buying...

I think that there is no need to put super fast CPUs in most notebook computers. Notebooks benefit more from lots of RAM and faster HDDs. Also, bloatware has been destroying much of the gains in computer speed. Bootup speed on a lot of consumer grade machines is abyssmal, and RAM gets filled up with...

MacBook LCDs are glossy. If you work in environments with a lot of overhead lighting, the reflections can be a pain. The MacBook Pro has the option of either the glossy or matte display. I prefer the matte. Overall brightness and evenness of lighting is very good. My favorite notebook displays are t...

I thought people might find this interesting. It seems that electronic stuff that people recycle often ends up piled in some other country: http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/11/18/electronics.trash.ap/index.html While there are no precise figures, activists estimate that 50 to 80 percent of the 300,000 t...

I received my brand new top of the line HP Dv2500t I'm not surprised that support was terrible. The dv2500t is a consumer grade notebook with consumer level support. If you ever buy HP again, make sure to get a business model (like the 6910p). You'll get better build quality and tech support. Best ...

I don't think there's enough information to go on here. Any company can express "interest" in buying another company. My local Mom and Pop coffee shop can express "interest" in buying Microsoft.

This does not mean that the Seagate board and shareholders will approve.

The 820 and 830 are not bad machines. They are well built, but the design feels a bit less refined than a ThinkPad. The plastic pieces don't fit together as nicely, and the trackpoint needs a scroll button.

I think the HP business stuff (nc series, new p series) are worthy competitors to the ThinkPad. They are very well thought out and nicely built.

The Dell Dx20/x30 machines are good machines that will get the job done, but I feel their design is not yet up to ThinkPad level.

The obvious answer was to make the generation number consistent across all product lines.

Around 2003, we had the X31, R40, and T40. Somewhere along the line, it became X40, R50, and T40. Now it is X60, R60, and T60.

I don't dislike widescreen displays, because the extra horizontal rez can be useful for IM lists and system monitoring widgets. However, I agree with the sentiment that lost vertical resolution can be annoying. I really prefer to scroll as little as possible in the text that I am reading or editing.
