Thanks mediasponge, the grinding is definitely just the fan. So besides the hard drive and fan noise, is an electrical humming on either battery or ac power normal? It's only discernible in a dead quiet room.

The lower 1/3 of my screen is black while the rest of the lcd works. I can get it to work if I bend the screen frame a certain way and hold it there though. Is there an easy fix for this?

My CPU is at 94 degrees and my GPU is at 85 degrees, what am I supposed to do? I'm also past my warranty.

As the title states, whenever I go into hibernation or sleep mode then come back my internet doesn't work. I have to disable then re-enable my network card otherwise I just have local access only.

Okay, I got the new hard drive and was too impatient to wait for a recovery disk so I installed XP on it, but now the network drivers don't work even after burning them onto a disk and installing them on the T41. Do I absolutely need to recover to the original software for this computer to work?

There seems to be a whining noise coming from the left side of my laptop where the fan vents are. Also, whenever I go into sleep or hibernate and turn it back on, my network adapter doesn't work so I have to disable and re-enable it.

Whenever I go into sleep or hibernate and resume Vista my internet stops working and I have to repair or disable and re-enable my lan card. What's going on, I have all the latest drivers and what not.

I just bought a pair of 1gb x 2 of dual channel ram and was wondering whether it would be better performance wise to install these two and leave out the IBM 1gb stick or install all 3gb. I use the t60 for gaming and word processing primarily.
