T61 Display Assembly connection to Case Bottom
Hi, I managed to pick up a T61 display assembly pretty cheap and plan on turning it into a standalone monitor with an M.NT68676.2A controller. Now to keep the screen upright, I'm thinking of getting the bottom case of a T61 to screw the display assembly onto. However, I'm not sure whether in order t...

Re: Thinkpad W520 New motherboard; error(s) 2200 & 2201
I was able to find the software easily from looking through the thread RealBlackStuff posted ( http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=116575 ) I won't post the link here, because I think it may violate the rules of the forum. But basically search for the file name of the package for version...

I have a copy of the X301 Vista recovery discs if you want.
I can send them via post for $30 USD (Are you in New Zealand?), or I can upload ISOs somewhere for you for $20 USD.

Re: Anyone like IBM/Lenovo desktop PC cases?
I like most of the older IBM desktop and server cases, like the ThinkCentre S50 USFF, and even the xSeries server cases. Some of the newer Lenovo cases have lost a bit of the good design I think. I got a M90 USFF a few months ago at work, and there are too many shiny bits on the front, which I don't...

Re: ThinkPad T430
Link to this please? I tried to copy the link, but it was something like: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/default.page? It wouldn't have taken you to the right page. I've noticed it's gone now, but I did manage to take a screenshot before. It's on my laptop at home though. I'll post it when I get a...

ThinkPad T430
While searching for some drivers for the T420, I noticed on the Lenovo Support site that there was an entry for a T430. When I select it to go to the available downloads for it, it has a label 'test t430'. Is this a sign of a new incoming T series model? The T420 has only been on the market for a fe...

Re: X301 Batteries
It could be, I always assumed it was determined by the BIOS, hence the reason why there's no option to change it in Power Manager? Or perhaps there's a more technical reason for it. Before I got the battery, I thought the system would load balance the power over the two batteries. I'm not sure that'...

Re: X301 Batteries
Definitely. With the 2x 3-cells installed, I get at least 4 hours of use, mainly web browsing, and some VPN/remote desktop work.
With a 6-cell and 3-cell, I imagine you'll get even more.

Re: X301 Batteries
I ended up just buying the battery. So now I have 2x 3 cell batteries, and the battery life is significantly better. The first half of the battery time seems to last longer however, but that's probably because the bay battery is newer and has less wear than my original. FredGarvin was right in that ...

X301 Batteries
I've had my X301 for about 2 years now and it's still going strong. Lately I've been thinking of getting the 3 Cell bay battery to increase battery life, but wondering whether it's worth the extra purchase. Currently I only use the standard 3 Cell and get about 1.5 - 2.0 hours use. Does anyone else ...

Re: Can you purchase the Slim DVD of x300/x301 on its own?
I've also seen the bare drive (I believe it's made by panasonic) on sale on eBay, although the ones there don't come with the Thinkpad bezel. I ordered my X301 without a DVD drive, and I simply bought a $20 external enclosure for my old DVDRW from an X3 Ultrabase. It works for me, since I don't use ...

You can get USB dvd burners for like 50 bucks. Newegg.com They do everything the USB ultrabay drive does, just cheaper. So pick the one that gets good reviews and buy it for 50 or so dollars. Nice purchase. This is exactly what I've done, and it's a great inexpensive solution. I so rarely require a...

New X301, but no Optical Drive. Options?
Just this past week I decided to take advantage of Lenovo's sale and picked up a new X301 with 2GB RAM, 120GB HDD for just under $1900 (Australian Dollars). The catch is, there's no DVD drive, as it was a $400 option which I just couldn't justify. I do have a X3 Ultrabase with an optical drive, and ...

Problems after installing new RAM in R61i
Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone can give me some ideas to try after encountering some problems after installing new memory in my laptop. First of all some background: I have an R61i 7650-A6G. It is currently configured to dual boot with Fedora 9 and Windows XP SP3. All hardware is stock - 1.46Ghz Pe...

X31 - System boards interchangeable?
I have an X31, model 2672-JHU, it's got a 1.4Ghz CPU, Security Chip and Gigabit ethernet. Recently I have been having troubles with it - sometimes it doesn't boot up, otherwise it will crash after using it for 15-20 mins or so. I am pretty sure it's a system board issue. Now, I managed to find a ven...

ThinkVantage Create Recovery Media
Just a simple question, which may have been answered - does the Create Recovery Media utility create the recovery disks from the hidden partition?
And will booting from them to recover a system also restore the hidden partition too, just like the recovery discs that can be ordered from Lenovo?

Recommended DVD-RW for X3 Ultrabase?
Recently I bought an 8x DVD-RW DL off eBay which was advertised to be compatible with my X31's X3 Ultrabase. Turns out the drive was simply a re-badged OEM M a t s u s h i t a UJ-831s which apparently isn't a very reliable burner. I could only get it to burn at 2x, and the burn actually failed. No o...
