Okay, I understand looking at this from the leading edge angle, but I see it from the trailing edge, a 256mb flash drive in a 701C or 240 would work fine for someone who still uses small operating systems llike Dos, Win3.1, OS/2 or a small linux. And the hard drives made for the 701 are not fast and...

770 tale of woe

While I have had mostly great luck with ebay not this time. A plain 9548-40U, that I think should have had a 233 came with a 200mhz MMC-1 board, PMC20005001AA. If I remember right this one had keyboard issues as well. What else will be a proablem besides the ESC - F1 "keys on boot" if I go with a PI...

Is this when the drive is in the UltrabayII or connected by cable?
Is it a Ultrabay II drive?

I only have a guess, your externall cable is bad and if you are using it internally my guess is worthless.

Good luck and I hope somebody with more expertese adds their reply.

I don't type a whole lot but remisive carpel tunnel and a touch of artherites make using the buckeling spring keysboards an easy choice.

wikki is a great, but not compleat, they seldom mention aftermarket options.

Of course the nice advantage of mounting a 2.88 into the 770's floppy case is it should still work as an external floppy for other thinkpads.
