Butterfly warp driver?

#1 Post by spheniscus » Sun Apr 24, 2005 9:10 am

Hi,

I'm trying to install OS/2 Warp 4 on a Thinkpad 701CS. I have previously installed Warp 3 on a 701C with no problem. Here, I don't seem to find the "right" driver for the CT65545 chip - I've tried several, but either "nothing" happens (i.e. I'm back at VGA 16 colors), or I get a black screen and must alt-F1 to reset it.

There was an IBM file (must have been vftp....exe) but now, teh IBM site seems to ignore the 701 alltogether.

I post this in the hope that some faithfull 701 & OS/2 lover may read and tell me were I could get that file.

Note that the OS itself runs fine, albeit only in 16 colors :(

Don't know what you mean by right driver for the CT65545, however from the OS/2 Device Driver Pack Online under Chips & Technologies Inc there are a few.

That chip it's also found on the 365E i.e.

here is the link:

cheers.

...does not work for me

Thanks for the link, unfortunately I was allready there, and the driver does not seem to work. I get a black screen.

There was a driver for the 701, but IBM does not list the machine amongst the Thinkpads anymore. The name must have been vftp701 something.

SDD/2 on 760EL

#7 Post by BigWarpGuy » Mon Apr 25, 2005 2:35 pm

I use SDD/2 on a 760EL that runs OS/2 Warp ver 4. I will be trying eCS 1.1 on it soon (I created the installation diskettes from the cd). The screen of the 760EL looks nice.

Warp Drivers

#8 Post by RadarCat » Tue Apr 26, 2005 6:19 am

Hi, Spheniscus,

I have a page on my OS2WarpLinks web site that is a fairly long list of OS/2 Warp web sites that specialize in various drivers for OS/2 Warp.

Perhaps you can find what you need there. It is at:

http://www.os2warplinks.com/main/drivers.htm

Despite OS/2 Warp's undeserved reputation for having "no drivers", it is the biggest page on my site!

Good Luck !!

Best,
