OS/2 for a 730T

#1 Post by tfflivemb2 » Thu May 11, 2006 7:29 pm

Can anyone tell me what version of OS/2 would work on a 730T with a 170mb PCMCIA hard drive, and where I can get a copy?

I was trying Win95, but couldn't get it to load, because I forgot that the disk isn't bootable.

OS/2 at eBay

Probably Warp version 3 or 4. I am not sure if it can boot to or load to a pcmcia drive. You can also check at the forum at http://www.os2world.com ; a very good site for OS/2 information.

You might want to try some auction sites; like eBay http://www.ebay.com .

First you have to install system disk and then OS.

730T was made for OS/2 2.1(or Win 3.11 or DOS). It is not free, sometimes you can see it on eBay. But you need more - some software for pen. Try Pen for OS/2, it is downloadable from that mirror on a sticky in Legacy Hardware Forum (I hope, if it is not there i can send you a copy).

Pen for OS/2 Software

#4 Post by thinkos » Wed Jan 02, 2008 1:57 am

Anyone have the actual software for Pen for OS/2? I have an old Thinkpad 360P. I have the drivers but need to software - ie hand writing recognition stuff. I have it for win 3.1 but not for OS/2.

Happy to trade something in return for it?

Hi David,

no "actual" software exist (as I know). Pen for OS/2 was a part of OS/2 ver. 2.11. installation. I cannot remember now whether I have disks ...
But how to exctract it?

When I offered Pen for OS/2 18 months ago I had a special file containing software and drivers (i did not try it). I will try to find it. I do not promise anything.
I have 710T and 730TE. Do you know anybody who has parts for them? I would pay, of course. I am dreaming about stand for this machines ...
I asked here on this forum but no answer.

Hello David.

I found two files, drivers.zip (with the installation program) and penos2.zip (with drivers). Where can I send them?

I hope it will work.

Regards,

M.P.

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu is a good archival location for OS/2 files. You could upload them there and anyone can download it for free. You can also upload it to http://www.os2bbs.com . One could try http://www.os2warp.be but it is not very active. You could also try http://www.os2world.com .

I know these archives, but it is not a good idea to upload this file there.
1) I forgot how and where I got this file - is it free?
2) I do not know whether the program works

If someone needs it I will help him, of course, but i will not exhibit it on a public server.
