I have positive feedback for two members:

TuuS: I purchased and installed 1 frankenpad kit even though I'd never replaced a T60 motherboard before. He always replies with a lot of interesting and important information, and enthusiasm, and he made building my machine simple and fun. I'm building my third frankenpad now. His excellent service has not waned.

Real Black Stuff: I needed an LED mod for an LCD cable and inverter to hook up to my UXGA LED screen, and RBS came through. His work is solid, and I received great instructions on installing the mod. I was able to get everything up and running perfectly.

Shout out to RBS who sold me a near pristine X301.

Admittadly, I was 2 or 3 days late on the paypal (sorry about that, life happens).

I am very excited to grab an mSATA SSD and get 'er running. Linux is going to run like a champ on it.

Thank you for the feedback my friend. It's always exciting to help build another frankenpad and as you've experienced, it's hard to build just one. The last of your parts for the latest build should be at your door today and I'm sure everyone in your household will now have frankenpads as their daily drivers. I'm sure you also agree the experience gained will be valuable for years to come as you maintain your fleet of Frankies.

Working with Adam was a pleasure, he was patient when I had to dig through boxes to find the exact parts he needed and it was a pleasure do business with him.

First. Frankenpad. Ever.

when I got home today, received "Frankie" X2001 from emeraldgirl08 - and IT IS GORGEOUS.

first frankenpad I have ever owned, first non-tablet I have had in quite some time. I am basically in love with X tablets, but I have to admit this machine is glorious. and emeraldgirl08 did an an amazing job hacking it together.

this post is being typed on it right now - booted off a Mint USB.

already ordered a SSHD, already ordered a memory upgrade.

emeraldgirl08 was kind enough to include the internal uSD double card which will be fun to install - and useful!

thank you!!!

Positive feedback to Bibin and RMSMajestic.

Bibin had sold me a wonderful AFFS X31 and was able to meet locally at a short notice for the sale.
RMSMajestic had sold me a T430s panel mod chip and communicated well before the sale and afterwards.

ok, erik is basically insane.

this X60T is gorgeous in every possible way. the keyboard and palmrest are immaculate, as is the screen.

except then there's the tiny sealed box packed with RAM sticks and wifi cards and cables and more.

except then there's the NIB X6t ultrabase.

except then there's the extra keyboard and ultrabase drive sled.

except then there's the 20V/65W PSU which I can never have too many of.

thanks brother!!!

EDIT: somehow, among all these extras, neglected to mention -

except then there's the HSF+heatpipe in original packaging.

I think this was my first ever dealing with NorrisCell?

the deal was for 1 x61t beauty and 1 x61t beast. to be honest, it was difficult to tell the beauty from the beast. also? x61t is sentimentally one of my favorites of all time.

keyboard quality was great to astounding (I may have mentioned in other posts how important this is to me. plus the whole non-touch/track-pad-ness of it all)

shipping was timely, everything was well and securely packaged, not really possible to do better.

(not to detract from NorrisCell's awesomeness, but just to recall other beyond-reproach denizens...)
not-necessarily-chronological order:
x31, sentimentally-beloved powerhorse - ajkula66
x200t, ogod I love this thing - emeraldgirl
x2001 frankie, beloved x31 successor/surpassor - emeraldgirl
x60t, mint + ludicrously extreme nonsense of add ons - erik
x220t, ungodly - ajkula66
x61t, times 2 - NorrisCell
TPT1 + multiple PSUs + superb accesories, multiple other accesory transactions - erik

I feel like I'm leaving out RBS in which case apologies.

but look, this is still all about the 2 x61t from NorrisCell. thank you, brother!
go away.

Feedback to NorrisCell, erik, twillis449 & Bill Morrow

#2898 Post by JohnD. » Wed Jun 15, 2016 5:29 pm

Hello All,

To erik: Thank you for the cooling fan! Did not know they made a special one for the x220 series. I might ask a question or two when I get to install that puppy. Also, thank you for the red little caps that I got from you...I think I ordered a ton! My apologies for not thanking you earlier.

To NorrisCell: Thank you for selling the x220 and shipping it quickly before your trip. Now I can play with Win10 and see what it's about so to speak. NorrisCell is a good guy to talk to in general and very knowledge about cell phones & carriers.

To twilliw449: Thank for the T60 and getting that puppy out to me. A great in shape machine! Also, I believe you might be the first person that I have purchased an item from the Great White North!

To BillMorrow: Thank you for putting in the time and energy in running this site/forum all of these years. Also, the time and effort that you put in for troubleshooting issues and getting the site back up again. I remember being a lurker on this since around 1995/6 with my 701c.

As always, it's always a pleasure to talk to everyone and the knowledge on this site is wonderful!

Have a great day everyone!
John

Two thumbs up to LouieK on his recent sale (to me!) of his T60/61 LED Frankenpad.

His description of the laptop and various and associated spare parts was very much understated, the Frankie and its' LED display are immaculate...The video and assorted pics in his ad are great, but handling this lappy, and the experience of using this Frankie is just....WOW!

The detailed packaging of everything included in the sale was second to none!

Kudos are well-deserved, and I would certainly purchase from him again.

(Hmmm...looks like I have to upgrade my Daily Drivers list!)

Nice to get the "Positive" feedback thread back on top.

Bought a X61 from Edward Mendelson, and you sure can tell he is a senior member here, because he packed and shipped it so fast my head spun!

Couple days later and the X61 is here in my hands running and looking beautiful.

Thank you immensely for the pleasant transaction Edward. I am extremely happy to now have an X61 which is not restricted to being a wall display (a different story altogether).

Seriously this item is museum quality and should have been listed as such. If you think twice about doing business with Edward, DON'T! The dude is solid.

Cheers again and may your future TP Forum dealings be at least as excellent as this one.

I've purchased T420s modded with IPS screen from plympton, and everything went fast and smooth. Two weeks after our first communication I've already got the laptop in excellent condition, and the batteries hold more than 90% of their original charge!
I'm now using it as a primary working horse, and everything is great thanks for plympton.

With the suggestions from those on the forum, I sought and found a new genuine NMB keyboard. One of the venerable members of this form, Johan, responded to a WTB that I placed on the marketplace.

In less than a week after purchasing, through international mail, the most immaculately packed box arrived on my doorstep. It was as if it had been sent to me from a fine electronic parts company. It was a pleasure to receive something so protectively and neatly packed. The new, perect keyboard is now on the computer, and the feel of the keyboard is truly a pleasue. I'm grateful to Johan for the quality of the keyboard, and his care in sending it.
