Hi,

I'm in Iceland and the prices of the thinkpads are outrageous and the options limited. I would like to know if it's possible to buy my thinkpad from the lenovo website delivered to someone in the US who would then re-send it to me in Iceland where I would pay the 25.5% taxes.

It is actually shipped to buy a plane ticket form Iceland to the states and back to buy the laptop in the states than to buy it here... but I'd rather avoid taking the plane just for that.

Many thanks.

I know this dont help your problem much but just had to say that Lenovo Canada just had a great sale on the T420s .
Good buddy of mine priced up and bought a loaded T420s(Core i7,4 gigs ram, high rez lcd, ect). The reg list price came to $2198.xx + tax. After the sale coupons the total price came to $1010.xx . Thats more then 50% off.

Isn't VAT evasion technically a form of tax fraud?

Isn't VAT technically a form of government fraud to squeeze extra money out of people just because they can?

@ThinkRob: Why are you saying this? If it's for me you might want to re-read my post. I will pay Icelandic VAT (25.5%) on import, so I'm not escaping this. I'm not willing to pay the premium the shop here in Iceland is adding.

You're right, I misread your statement "re-send it to me in Iceland where I would pay the 25.5% taxes."

I interpreted it as "re-send it to me in Iceland where I would [otherwise] pay the 25.5% taxes".

Mea culpa!
