Do you want to keep whatever else is on the drive or will you be erasing it completely? The easy answer is to go into BIOS and make the predesktop area visible (security options), and then either format it or reallocate it with something like partition magic or gparted. You may have to fix the MBR on the drive to get whatever is there to boot properly if you intent is to leave it there.

I want to wipe everything and start all over.

Go into BIOS and make the predesktop area visible (security options), and then partition and format the drive as you normally would.
