Windows Update killed System Update [Pics]

Seems that way...

Yesterday I was prompted to install a security fix by WU for Visual C++:

Afterward, when I ran SU, this happened:

Since then, I've uninstalled SU, rebooted, then reinstalled, but to no effect. Starting SU prompts the error.

... could it perhaps be related to the Hotfix patch for System Update to fix WER crash issue on Windows 7?
