Looking for the quiestest possible dual core 4:3 thinkpad
Looking for the quiestest possible dual core 4:3 thinkpad
I actually have a T61p 14 4:3 screen. I recently installed fuduntu and was greatly impressed.
So basically, I'm wondering which dual core processor thinkpad configuration in the T-series had the least TDP and thus the least heat and fan noise. The T61p is pretty loud and hot due to the 2.2ghz processor and the Nvidia discrete GFX chip.
I'm thinking that probably a 2.1ghz Penryn T61 with integrated graphics might be the answer, but I"m willing to try anything down to the T60 line. Considering an x60 also, but because linux doesn't seem to do the trackpoint very well, a touchpad is needed.
Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!
If you need something dead quiet, you should look into a R60/e, with Intel 950 and a T5500/5600 CPU. That's pretty much the quietest platform around...

Yes, I rarely hear the fan on my R60e running Linux.ajkula66 wrote:Linux tends to make ThinkPads run hotter...
