Changing German Recovery Discs to English

There at a lot of recovery iso's on archive.org that are in German. I'm particularly interested in the older sets for the 3 and 7 series. Only problem is most of those are in German and I don't speak or read German. While I would like to learn the language I'm wondering if it's possible to extract the files and replace the OS files with the English versions then repack the ISO with any hope of things still working. I got laid off recently so I've got a lot of time on my hands.
