Howdy
Has anyone overclocked or tweaked their ATI on their thinkpad?
Is there any improvements? What did you do it with?
cheers

Just for kicks I overclocked mine a tad just to see if it worked, etc. It did increase the frame rates during games, but you really can't overclock enough to be worth the risk of overheating on a notebook. It already gets hot enough while gaming normally and I wouldn't want to have it melt down. If this were one of my desktops I guarantee it would be overclocked and cooled well. I wouldn't recommend overclocking on a Tpad to be honest.

I OC my 9600 to 445-core/243-ram (yeah, that's a big jump in core speed) and it runs great and has never crashed. In Counter Strike:Source, 1024x768 with everything on high, trilinear filtering, no AA, reflect all water and wait for VS, I get 45fps in the timedemo.

Not too shabby!

What program did you guys use to OC your vidcards? Anyone ever come up with a OC'ed, but STABLE config? I wouldn't really mind OC'ing my 9600 but my main concern is heat. If the rise in heat is very minimal/moderate, I'd try it but other than that, no thanks.

I use Omega drivers which come with RadLinker. At the OC speed I run (445/243) I've not had a lick of trouble. ATITool, which comes with the Omega drivers, will help you find the fastest stable speed you can run at. The heat is significant, but it is not uncomfortable at the palm-rest. The base gets pretty warm though. The 9600 comes with the "long fan" and it seems to get a lot of heat out of the chasis. The vent port feels like a miniature blast furnace though! :)
