Battery recall issue

#1 Post by kingman99 » Sun Jan 30, 2011 10:03 pm

Hi

If l'm posting this in the wrong area l'm sorry!

Six months ago when my wife gave me her T61 with a dead battery l found out that this battery might be part of the Lenovo recall so l looked into it.

After checking with the Lenovo site l came to the conclusion that my T-61 was not part of the recall, so l moved on. For the past couple ofyears my wife only used the T61 plugged into an outlet and never used it as a mobile laptop.

Because the battery was useless l ordered another battery on Ebay from a top seller and still it appears l have the same problem but l am trying to charge it now. I will give it 10 hours.

But what really got me going was when l was on the Lenovo site it mentioned my exact problem and listed the screen prompts that l received but the kicker is it was over Oct 1st, 2010.

Bottom-line l will fire off an e-mail tomorrow regarding this not that the really care.

This is not a company that l would want to do business with in the future.

There's a very good chance that you've damaged the charging circuit on the motherboard by running a machine with a dead battery for extended period of time.

Good luck.

Hi

When l first tried to look into the recall it was before 10/1/10 and when l explained the problem they told me that my computer was not involved in the recall and that they were sorry.

They could have told me about the secondary problem which was alive at that time. Also since l took the T61 from my wife l must have been abusing it moving it from room to room.

Bottom-line it is what it is and l will just move on.

Alan
