X series buying suggestion

#1 Post by istudio » Thu Jun 16, 2011 10:13 am

Gd day,

I am currently using T61(766415M) for processing audio files (single core program) on the go and now i am looking for an upgrade.

I have come across some X series thinkpad model but would like to get some recommendation before going ahead.

- X220i (i5-2410)
- X220 (i5-2530)
- X1 (i5-2520)
- T420s ????

Any suggestions?

GDay Jimmy;
Long story short - buy the newest X220 ( its on special @Lenovo USA website) ...
get these...
i5 ok but .. i7 be better, as not really easy to upgrade later like they used to be in T6x series
4Gb single stick, -can buy other 4gb sticks from harvery normal etc for cheaper - they work!
intel wirelless (no wimax as Aust really dont truely have them setup yet) if u need broadband get the gobi300 card - its unlocked !
Display - best of best - so get the prem HD option
SSD or Normal HD , Normal HD = better for "convertor work" in vid/audio however SSD is fast but not good for EXCESSIVE DISK ACCESS type work (or Databsse pple hate ssds)

or buy the T420s - they super light and you can get i7 and display is not Prem HD ( not iIPS) but its great with the switchable vid card and great for travel ( i use my t410s and now t420s everyday and everywhere - last amaazin 12 hrs flights across Pac easy!!)

Hope this is helkpfull
Cheers

No doubt! Go for X220 with IPS option. Core i5 or i7 depending on your need for stamina. Core i7 gets USB 3.0

Although the X220 is a killer machine...do give the T series a look-see.
