Is dual-channel RAM performance noticeable by user?

#1 Post by schester » Mon Sep 19, 2011 4:18 pm

Has anybody has a chance to compare similar computers, one with dual-channel and one with single-channel RAM? I was wondering if the performance advantage is enough to be actually perceived by the user.

On the current "Sandy Bridge" Intel based systems (ThinkPad **20 models) it is noticeable in a number of ways, but with earlier systems its generally not.
