Any updates to solving the T43 fan pulsing problem?
Any updates to solving the T43 fan pulsing problem?
I searched online and through this forum but I haven't seen any updates on this issue. The last discussion involved a new BIOS release that was to address the fan pulsing but apparently this did not solve the problem.
Has anyone with a T43 been able to fix the pulsing problem, short of replacing hardware?

Never heard of a T43 pulsing fan. You may be confusing this with the T23, which showed this when one or both of the inductors on the bottom of the T23 motherboard had fallen off or developed a bad connection.
The solution there: take them off, scrape the corrosion off and resolder them back on.

Re: Any updates to solving the T43 fan pulsing problem?
I've had pulsing fan issue on T43p. The problem was represented by little and very short fan acceleration each ~5 seconds. I've solved the issue by using long T42p fan - no annoying sound and no pulsing problem from that time. Hope this helps.

Re: Any updates to solving the T43 fan pulsing problem?
In the thread Total solution for absolutely ZERO oscillatory noise in t4x it is mentioned that this fix for some users has cured what is claimed to be "pulsating [fan] noise".
My suggestion: Get the highly-recommended, free program Notebook Hardware Control (see e.g. this post), and undervolt your CPU as much as possible (and, or course, select the "Balanced Mode" of operation); downclock your GPU as well, and you'll have a very quiet T43!

In my not-so-modest experience with T43/p machines, neither NHC nor TPFC addresses the "pulsing fan" problem.
Replacing M24 fan with M10 works wonders in my book.

Re: Any updates to solving the T43 fan pulsing problem?
Replacing the M24 with a M10 fixed the pulsating fan issue on my T43. I guess drilling the hole + oil in the M24 would do too, but I didn't want to risk killing my only heatsink/fan unit.ajkula66 wrote:In my not-so-modest experience with T43/p machines, neither NHC nor TPFC addresses the "pulsing fan" problem.

Subjectively, I would say that the M10 and M24 make about the same amount of noise in dB. It's just that the noise characteristic of the unmodded M24 is horrid and gets on my nerves even at level 1. The M10 produces a neutral background hum.
RMClock and TPFancontrol are always recommended of course to further reduce fan noise.
