Cheapest SSD solution for T43p?

#1 Post by lukee » Fri Jun 01, 2012 2:26 am

I am looking for cheapest SSD solution for my T43p. What is the most worth upgrade I can do?

Options:
1) SATA mod + 2.5" SATA SSD (high speeds, high costs)
2) PATA SSD (medium speeds, reasonable costs)
3) other solution (PATA to CF / PATA to SDHC etc... - low speeds, low costs)

Do I have any other options?

Thanks.

SATA SSD + Ultrabay adapter in Ultrabay. Cheapest, least hackish, pretty good speeds, although you lose the optical drive.

This solution isn't convenient for me because I already have an Hitachi 7K500 in UltraBay adapter with my big data :( Another solution?

Since you have a big HD for storage already, for the OS you'd need only a 32GB (~$55.-) or 64GB (~$75.-) SATA SSD.
They are available even cheaper.
Combine that with a DIY SATA mod, and expenses would run well under $100.-
If you don't feel up to it, The Board Room can do the SATA mod for you.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
