T41 2373-TG5 Wireless Home network access issue WPA2-PKS/AES
T41 2373-TG5 Wireless Home network access issue WPA2-PKS/AES
I'm a new user, so please thank you for being lenient on the form and substance.
Could the "experts" tell me if the 11a/b/g wireless Lan mini PCI adapter supports above encryption ?
I have tried various configurations either with windows in automatic mode or with AC, none of them see my router, while outside wireless networks are detected. For testing, if I remove encryption from my router it is seen and i can connect successfully.
I have installed the latest wireless driver avalaible on Lenovo site : 4.1.256.
My T530, my tablet and my phone, all access wirelessly the router without problem, so sure I miss something with the T41.
Note this is a recently acquired machine so this has never worked before.
Thanks for your help.
Pierrot

WPA2 encryption only comes with the Service Pack 3 of Windows XP.
Maybe does your Windows installation only use Service Pack 1 or 2.
To check, make a right click on the computer icon that is on your desktop.
As your name sounds French, this is the "Poste de travail".
In the context menu that displays, select "Propriétés".
The service pack should be mentioned if any.

Welcome to the forum, Pierrot91!
I've used the card in question with WPA2 encryption and SP2 on many ThinkPads, so yes, it most definitely does support the usage scenario that is being referred to here.
This is incorrect.thinktwice wrote:WPA2 encryption only comes with the Service Pack 3 of Windows XP.

Thanks guys for your respective replies.
Thinktwice,
yes I'am french, but but XP Pro is in english ...
Answer is yes Service Pack 3 is installed (I re-installed it yesterday).
George,
nice to see that this card is supported with this authentification/encryption setting WPA2-PSK/AES (and not "...-PKS/..." as I wrote in the subject).
So should I understand that something is incorrect in the settings, probably yes, any hint will be welcomed.
Note that wireless mode is 802.11g and channel number 13 (manually set in router), but that has no impact when in open mode.

Re: T41 2373-TG5 Wireless Home network access issue WPA2-PSK/AES
Guys,
first thanks for your effort to help.
second, I should have searched more in depth !
Problem solved :
- Opportunity to quicly and easily change from WPA to WPA2 was given with my mobile phone used as a Wifi router.
- I got confirmation that WPA and WPA2 are supported by this adapter, so George you were right.
- Comparing setting with ADSL router (SpeedTouch 780) I realized that the only main difference between the Android Wifi phone settings and the ADSL router ones was the channel number, which i had manually forced to 13 (by myself, but long time ago to use a non saturated frequency).
- I changed configuration to a lower channel and yes I got it work (open and secured)
- But, as I'm very curious and wantred to keep advantage of channel 13 frequency, I had idea to modify the parameter "Extended Channel Mode" in the Artheos adapter from "Disable(for N America)" to "Enable", it was the solution.
Explanation is there : http://www.radio-electronics.com/info/w ... dwidth.php
see WLAN / WIFI Channel availability table :channel 12 and 13 are not open to North America.
Far away from me it could be so evident.
