T43: LCD panel upgrade to UXGA
T43: LCD panel upgrade to UXGA
Hi all,
I need your help with an upgrade I am looking at. I have a T43 machine, type 2668 which has a 15" LCD SXGA+. I am looking into upgrading the screen to UXGA, probably a different LCD panel and cable would be required. For the cable I found one from R50 P/N 91P6836, also an UXGA cable for a 15" LCD.
I found the topic http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 36#p425267 where it is explained that the two cables have different length, but might not be a final answer.
I am wondering if really P/N 91P6836 (from R50) and P/N 91P6858 (from T43, as per hardware manual) have the same length? Would P/N 91P6836 would fit correctly in T43 lid?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum!
R5x cables are longer than their T4x siblings. They will fit within the lid, though, with some finagling.
I don't know how much you'd be paying for that R5x cable, but I've got several 15" T4xp UXGA cables available, tested and ready to go - PM me if interested.
Happy upgrading.

Re: T43: LCD panel upgrade to UXGA
The "UXGA" will be a great display but you might find it will generate more heat after the upgrade. What GPU are you running?
Good luck and nice to hear the T43's are still being utilised.

GPU is an ATI X300 (or X600) with 32MB memory, otherwise an UXGA upgrade would not make sense.shawross wrote:The "UXGA" will be a great display but you might find it will generate more heat after the upgrade. What GPU are you running?

The machine still has a parallel port and it's great using it with programmers (eeprom, flash) for electronics. I plan soon to remove the SATA chip and replace the IDE HDD with a SATA one. I have the new connector for the HDD, I will make some time for this.

T43 sports X300 with 64MB VRAM and up to 128MB shared. You'll be fine with UXGA. Been there and done that.xebbmw wrote:
