Post PICS and Description of Your Notebook Carrying Case ETC

I would like to see pictures of the various notebook cases you guys use as well as your favorite accessories (other than your thinkpad) that you always carry with you.

I don't have a notebook case for my x22 even though it goes everywhere with me. Most of the time it is just tossed into my backpack. I usually don't carry any accessories around with me very often. Sometimes the ac adapter when I know I'll need it.

Don't have a camera on me at the moment, but I have a basic Targus one.

I got mine for free at a conference earlier this year...it's actually nicer than a few I've paid for...

This is the official Targus case for the TransNote. I snagged it off eBay. It doesn't hold much but I tend to travel light - usually a car magazine and spare battery is plenty.

That's a seriously sweet case. I tend to travel far enough and long enough that I need to be able to get the power adaptor and my digital camera in the bag, so I've wound up with something larger...

For my iBook, which is my "photography" computer, I use an Adorama Commander combination camera and computer bag...

I can't find a pic on the web and don't have an image of mine, but it is a blue Targus backpack I picked up from Best Buy.. (GOt a sweet deal with my Discount).. It is large enough to carry my school books, notebooks, and the laptop itself.. As far as accessories go, my school gear is always there, but I also carry my iPod along with my digital camera.. I also carry 3 pens, a hilighter, and my spare keys in it.. My IBM WorkPad (The one that is the Palm 3 based one).. Basically used for Scheduling and notes.. This will be replaced by the new WorkPad z50 I picked up from eBay..

I am rarely home, so I live out of this backpack, or my car.. My car is my home away from home..

then I switched to this:

They call it a Samsonite Executive pack pack: the product id is 198XXX009 found here at samsonite.com. They go for $24 at Sam's Club which I think is a great price.

be-ez sleeve

#10 Post by lowie » Mon Jan 09, 2006 10:28 am

This be-ez laptop sleeve is originally developed to fit the Apple iBook, but my 14" T40 fits perfectly in the 14" model (T stands for "thin" i suppose ).

Although the be-ez site claims that they recently added PC-compatible sleeves, they are very hard to find/order. I bought the orange one, the white looked a bit cheap. Think i did a good deal paying only 30€, especially considering the shock-absorbing (5mm thick) Polyurethane that has been used.

Mine is just a basic Targus case, but it does the job nicely:

I use this Targus leather Thinkpad case ($99) which is ideal in the sense that it accomodates just what I need.

The second thing which is also very important in terms of accesories is the Lacie Mobile Drive (80 GB) which comes in extremely handy for copying back-ups from Rescue and Recovery. In case of Hard Disk failure this little gadget will help me up and running in 45 minutes with all the data restored. I back-up everyday on local drive and twice a week on the Lacie.

I recently upgraded both the Thinkpad from T41 to T43 as well as the Lacie from 40 to 80 GB to match the internal drive in Thinkpad. I had reviewed the Lacie earlier in case anyone cares to read the details. http://www.epinions.com/content_142191595140

X22 Case

#15 Post by schen » Tue Jan 24, 2006 1:59 pm

If you are still looking for a case, I have an IBM portfolio made for the Xxx series that just zip it up in a protective covering much like the Transnote version someone posted. You can pretty much just have it if you want it. I'd just like to be reimbursed for shipping if you don't mind.

I use a Samonite Nurburgring which I bought for my Travelmate 800CLi (what a ***** ***** **** **** brand and ******** laptop .. broken 9 times in 11 months ...)

Then I bought an X40... 12" is kind of small for a 15+" laptop bag.
Sold that one ... got a 15" T42.. And it fitted perfectly.

Then bought a 10" T1XP ... way to big for that one, could have fitted 2 of those laptops in the space that was designed for one laptop.

And so on ... (now I use it for my X31)

But I think I am going to sell it when I get my X60s.
Because its really to big for 12" laptops ... tough it is the strongest case I ever used... it has been drop from several meters, some people have stand on it whilst the X31 was inside, and the only damage was a bit of out of shape metal that I bended back in 1 minute... Go figure 80+ kilo's person stands on your laptop bag and your laptop survives!!

The guy's name is Nathan. This is their site (Pelican owns many). I have no affiliation, but, if you need a case that will take a beating, these are the best. Price isn't too bad either, $149 US. Model 1490CC1. These have lifetime on them.

I have a pelican. Stopped using it - too heavy for daily commuter. Best for harsh environments.

I have the two piece Tumi Roller - which also fits my travel luggage.

Well, ever since I tried that solution my keyboard has smelled like anchovies and when the fan runs, the room smells like pepporoni and mushroom and I cant surf the net for more than 5 minutes without the smell making me hungry. I quickly decided to go back to using my Targus wide-as-hell chock full o' pockets leather case for when I travel so I can fit all the accessories and my pleather Base XX brand case for everyday transport. From what I hear about the pizza box case though, you might get better results if you don't choose the option of having a pizza delivered in the case when you get it.

How do you like your bag? Yesterday I found this company too, but was wondering what the quality was of this product.
