actually it's a lie. the partition is formatted as ext3, but ext2 IFS only knows how to read ext2, and therefore is able to manipulate ext3 partitions, but can't take advantage of the file system journalling of ext3.

'n here's my linux desktop (whoo! windowmaker FTW!)
Image
I tried to feature my windows partition in this, similar to how I featured my arch partition in the other one. it is mounted in the folder /mnt/windoze.
I made that wicd icon all by my self!
the reason for crappy battery life in both is that windows was on full screen brightness and dynamic switching between 600, 800, and 1000mhz, and linux just doesn't get good battery life in general. I need to compile a kernel with phc.

@nut cracker: I like that look. how'd you get it? When I ran Windows 98SE on my old laptop, I got a similar look through the use of a skinning program that I got on a Windows 9x forum.

@ TheRedFox: Thanks! Here are the links:

Desktop: http://isaacmorgan.deviantart.com/art/Road-89919926

I use ObjectDock, but i can't find the link for the icons.

Here's mine:

I change my desktop background all the time. I also like to alternate between Windows Classic and Windows XP styles and their various color schemes. I don't like to have any icons on the desktop, so I have shortcuts on the task bar for my most used programs; the other programs I like to use are pinned to the Start menu.

I know I'm sort of posting too many screenshots, but I finally found IBM map wallpaper at 4:3 XGA resolution, so I figured I should show that off, that and I decided to try to bump up my battery life a bunch, and show it off. speaking of that, can anyone conceive of a reason why my battery life would randomly jump between 5:22 (the max I got it too) and 4:40 without me doing anything and an idling system! that's madness!
Image
the tweaks I applied: undervolted my processor to .764v (lower than I'm normally comfortable with, due to occassional freezes of system. normally I keep it at .780), screen brightness at lowest (this seems to cut the most watts from my power drain. it went from like 13W to 7.7W (lowest I got it too), and 16bit color (lower than the normal 24bit color). I also applied my normal tweaks of underclocking (to a steady 600mhz) my Pentium M, turning off sound, and underclocking my ATI Radeon (to 67.50mhz core clock, and 67.50mhz mem clock).
my battery began it's life with 45 or so Wh, but it seems I've worn it down a lot in the past few weeks to 43Wh *sadness*

I love the ThinkPad map wallpapers, but prefer the older black/greytone one or the newer one based on actual topography.

I think I (or another member) redid this blue one in black too. It looked pretty good.

I like the blue just cause it contrasts well with the thinkpad. My dad has had the same blue thinkpad wallpaper since he got his T20 way back when.
