Adding Thinkpad drivers to nLite slipstream, how?

Hello all

To help on a project my wife is doing for work, I have made her a nLite slipstream with Win XP SP3 and current updates. So basically a XP "SP4" install medium, with a volume install key. This will be applied to 15-20 T61, T400 and T410 machines for users at a conference. For some reason XP was preferred for this specific use, even on these newer machines. To make the numerous installs even easier and faster, I was considering making one slipstream medium for each machine type, with the System Update file for that specific machine, and probably also the LAN / Network driver, in case XP doesn't contain that driver for these newer machines. Then the machines can pretty much get the system software on their own, with minimal intervention from the IT staff.

The question that arises is: How do I apply these two Thinkpad drivers/files to the nLite slipstream? When you download these, you need to extract them before you can install them. I assume I extract them first, and THEN apply that entire extracted folder to the slipstream. Or do I select certain files from that folder only? Or what is the correct procedure for this? Seems like nLite looks for .inf files in the add drivers-section. I can spend the evening messing around with nLite to see what works, but in case somebody here has tried this before, I see no reason to invent the wheel over again.

Found a solution after some testing. What worked was to extract the driver, and in the 'Add driver' part on nLite, I pointed to the extracted folder. If I selected "Multilpe driver folder", nLite seemed to scan the folder, and picked what it needed. It worked, and the cabled network connection was up and running right after the install.

System Update integration didn't get solved, as that isn't a driver. So I ended up just putting the extracted folder on the install DVD. Then they can at least just move it from the disc to C: and run it. I could probable have used a RunOnce command to move it, so if anyone has the command on the top of their head that fixes it, please tell.

Edit: A xcopy %source%\xxxx %SystemDrive%\xxxx /I /E /Q commmand I found online seemed to fix it. But as System update needs to be installed anyway, lots of hassle to move a file.

Btw. System Updtae 3.16 did a *lousy* job of finding drivers for the T400. Hotkeys don't work, and the Chipset, WLAN and WWAN card were still listed as unknown devices and needed manual driver install. And even now, after uninstalling and resintalling Hotkeys Features integration, still no On-Screens or Fn functions working at all. On my personal Thinkpad, I have always installed drivers manually. So despite being time consuming, that gives a way better result than this.
