Thin white line across bottom of T21 LCD

#1 Post by dsvochak » Sat Nov 12, 2005 3:17 pm

I remember seeing something like this here but I can't find the thread so I'm posting a new one.

A 4 1/2 year old T21 (2647-4AU) has developed an LCD problem.

There is now a very thin white line across the bottom of the screen. It's clearly noticeable during the IBM logo and pre windows portion of booting the machine. Once XP boots, the line is still there but isn't noticeable unless you really look for it. There are, as yet, no other symptoms: no odd tinting, etc.

Any ideas regarding what this may be a symptom of will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I had the very same problem suddenly on my T23. A blue vertical line.
Usually it is either the LCD electronics or onboard graphics chip. The line was there, always, also during booting up

BUT: I tested the display using the Savage software, with various colors, and suddenly the line was gone... :-)

So, it was probably a stuck transistor line in the graphics ram. Switching it several times helped.
