T21 MiniPCI Dead - Card or PCI Slot?

#1 Post by cdsmith » Mon Dec 12, 2005 8:49 am

Greetings.

I have a 2648-ED7. Both modem and ethernet have been getting flaky over the past several weeks - - increasingly frequent random disconnects of the modem, intermittent inoperable ethernet when coming out of suspend (restart fixes this) - - and now the computer cannot open the port associated with the modem 'though it is still listed in the hardware manager but with code 10 (device has a problem - - duh). I removed and reinserted the PCI card (and connectors) a few times with no change in performance.

Before I buy a replacement mini-PCI card - - is there a typical cause for this, either the card or the slot on the motherboard?

Thanks in advance for any comments in reply.

Ithaca? Neat. I'm originally from Syracuse. :D Stay warm! heh.

A lot of the cards go bad. The slot isn't going to be the issue.

If you're sure all of the other parts and software are ok, go ahead and grab a MiniPCI card. They're like $8 on eBay..
