Too bad the article doesn't say how far the unit fell, or what kind of surface it struck.

In January I slipped on some ice and fell on top of my A21p that was inside a notebook sleeve inside a similar bag. The drop was about the same distance and also on pavement -- plus the "contribution" from my body weight. The only damage was a cracked LCD panel and a broken microswitch on the sub card. All three spindles, keyboard etc. all continued to work just fine.

Cost me about $350 on eBay for replacement parts to make the unit "like new." Don't know why anyone would buy anything but a ThinkPad.
