T30 video problems - black screen, ext vga doesnt work.

#1 Post by MikeW » Tue Oct 04, 2011 12:06 am

Hey guys,

A friend gave me a T30 that was missing some parts and my mom needs a laptop so i decided to buy the parts off ebay and put this one together for her.

I have the laptop fully assembled now, but my only problem is that the laptop shows no video at all. It powers up, and I can hear it running as well as see the light come on. Also, I tried using the external VGA output with a monitor and there was no signal at all. I'm not very skilled when it comes to this, so I need some help figuring out what's wrong. Any help is VERY much appreciated! :)

Other info:

Type 2366
New hard drive, wiped clean
Almost every part on it is new besides CPU and motherboard.
Something I noticed is that the little "lamp" thats on the top of the lcd for when your working in the dark will not turn on.

Thanks!

I FOUND THE PROBLEM :). Sorry guys, I'm dumb. The memory wasn't pushed in all the way.

No need to apologize. We've all had our oops moments. :)
