Go to http://forums.mydigitallife.info/thread ... #post90337
There's a whole list of various BIOS files, just scroll down a little.
Their modded BIOS files are much more up to date than Zender's ever were!

Re: no 1802 T60
Please don't spread FUD.
The last machines the NO-1802 hack worked on were T40/T41/T42 and R50/R51.
For anything newer than (T43, R52, T6x, R6x etc.), you will need a modified BIOS, if you want to use a non-approved wifi card.

I would also respect a working link to the BIOS. I added slic 2.1 into a T60 BIOS on my own but have not dared to flash it yet.. ..a known working version would be better..

Re: no 1802 T60....Found....
The post on mydigitallife.com had 2 bios files for T60, 79uj30us_TC-5M_SLIC21.rar and 7iuj13us_TP-7V_SLIC21.zip.
If I google these filenames I can still find mirrors for them (hint )
But what is the difference between these?

Re: no 1802 T60....Found....
Actually, this statement is no longer totally correct. Some of the links to modded BIOS files no longer work and others are for pretty old BIOS versions. Searching shows that the version that the OP was looking for (Lenovo T60_79uj34us_SLIC21_no_whitelist) is the most recent version for a 4:3 T60, but there are no working links for that file ... seemingly anywhere.RealBlackStuff wrote:I have mentioned this MyDigitalLife link above, and repeat it again:

Re: no 1802 T60....Found....
Hello, can you help me?
I changed my wireless miniPCI card on my ThinkPad T60, then upgrade the hardware, my T60 boot windows7 with no problem! But miniPCI was not recognized by Windows.
Interestingly, in the boot system is not displaying error 1802. I flash bios in my T60 after upgrade as files downloaded from HERE. But then again miniPCI card not recognized after loading in windows7. Please help me!!!

Re: no 1802 T60....Found....
My product: Thinkpad T60 1951-AN2 , XP Pro, 1.83GHz, 14.1 screen. A resale. Don't know if internal wireless card is original or not. But apparently it is not.
So, I unfortunately updated BIOS from Leveno website. Now I only have Error 1802 page about wireless card. But I don't know how to remove the card--doesn't look easy. (in fact, everything looks difficult to replace on this model. No separate entry for each part. Just one cover plate for all of back of laptop.)
But, would rather return to original BIOS.
I have looked at the links offered in this thread, and instructions are very complicated for me.
(I'm a savvy, intermediate user. Not IT tech.) I don't know how to "flash", etc.
Only laptop entry on T60 is using F1 to BIOS. (The ThinkVantage page clicks won't work. And no other function buttons work except F1.) I tried requesting BIOS put to "default". Didn't work.
Any other links available to original BIOS? Or would a reformatting the laptop help return to original BIOS? I have the Windows program. (I never made a Recovery Disk or received one.)
Thank you so much!

Short answer/solution:
-- Buy the item below for $5 and replace the existing WLAN card.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R4 ... kw=39T5578
Disassembly/reassembly instructions are inthe video below:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_IL/product ... MIGR-63896
The Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) is below:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail. ... migr-62733
Longer answer:
Most likely the standard BIOS you flashed is newer than the modified BIOS you had. To reinstall a modified older BIOS, you would need to flash an older standard BIOS which predates your modified BIOS, then install the modified BIOS. Given your comments about your experience with such things, and the "risks" in BIOS flashes, I recommend that your you avoid such risks, and adopt the $5 solution noted above.
Good luck!

Re: no 1802 T60....Found....
Thinkpadder,
Thank you for your very helpful reply.
1) Just to clarify, I only "updated" the BIOS from the Lenovo website. I'm not aware if that was "flash". Can you let me know if the two terms are the same. Thank you.
(2) I thought the whole bottom of laptop would need to come off. I've disassembled top and can see the part to replace. And I can now also see where the memory cards go. I may upgrade that while in there. Thank you for this and for the Ebay part link.
I do wonder that if changing Wlan card and booting up, if I will be notified of any other parts that don't comply with IBM/Levono or Thinkpad. This could go on forever!.....
Thanks!

Re: no 1802 T60....Found....
The term used for installing/updating the BIOS is "to flash" the BIOS, i.e., replacing a BIOS means rewriting the flash memory where the BIOS resides, hence the term "to flash".
The 1802 error is specific to the "unauthorized" WLAN card, and you will see no other 1802 error once you replace the WLAN card with one recognized/permitted by the BIOS.

Re: no 1802 T60....Found....
Your BIOS (Basic Input Output System) is like an extremely simple operating system that tells your computer how to boot, without it, or with a corrupt bios, your system would be useless. Traditionally a BIOS was on a ROM (read only memory) chip and would need to be replaced to update, but modern computers allow the user to re-write the chip (flash), but your system MUST be able to boot in order to accomplish this, so if a person interrupts the flash in progress, or your system crashes, your computer is useless and will either need a new systemboard, or special equipment to manually reburn the chip without the use of the computer to do it for you.
Future advice... never update a bios just because you "can" (unless it's within warranty). If you have a real advantage to gain, then it may be worth the risk, but many updates are trivial and won't make any difference, so you're risking a $600 repair (average lenovo price) if it fails.
Obviously the easiest solution is to revert back to a Lenovo card, but I suspect someone changed it for a reason, and the card you're removing is most likely much faster, so you may be downgrading, but at least it will work.
Flashing the bios isn't hard, but just make sure you have the right one before you begin, and accept the risk. The way I look at it, it's only money, and to give you a rough idea of worse case, I just sold a T60 system board, the best one available for $100, so if your comfortable replacing a board, that would be the worse case damage you could do.

Re: no 1802 T60....Found....
Thank you very much to both of you and your replies and explanations. and glad to see I understand easily what you say. (i.e.- meaning of flash, bios, etc.)
Originally I was upset that I would have to open up the bottom side of laptop which seems to be one piece. But it's the top, and too difficult. The levono site is good with info.
So, I'm getting a new WLAN card. And am sure to not ever update BIOS again! (i didn't need to in first place for the type of use I make of this laptop.)
I'm appreciative of this Forum site as we have two IBM Thinkpads (R40 also).
Very best!

Re: no 1802 T60....Found....
I'll post this final note as a help to the next person.
I have obtained the new WLAN card and inserted it. And the T60 boots up perfect.
However, I could not figure the new card with laptop though (I thought) and couldn't get on Internet.
I obtained the drivers for the card through Lenovo site. Still no luck.
But a while later, by chance I slid a little switch in front-left of laptop (that shows a screen). And I guess that allowed connection to Internet.
I've never had a switch like that on other laptops/computers. Who would know?!
I've also been working on a problem with another laptop (thinkpad R40) on another board, posting here. Your assistance for both of these issues has been tremendous.
Thank you very much!

I currently own a modded Bios for a T60, 14" 4:3 screen with Intel graphics. I believe the T60 widescreen uses another Bios.
How many different Biosses are out there? Does a T60 with Ati graphics have another bios?

There are just 2 T60 BIOS versions, one for 4:3 and one for WideScreen!
All 4:3 T60 use the same BIOS, currently V2.27 (corrected; I erroneously reported V1.29 before)
All WS T60 use the same BIOS, currently V1.19
Both have also been modded.

Re: no 1802 T60....Found....
That's the little WiFi on-off switch. I think T43s first had it. Before then, the card's driver software had a wireless on / off setting. That's handy when you do not want the WiFi on, like when you are hard wire connected.Massachusetts wrote:I'll post this final note as a help to the next person.
