T60p LCD becomes white on boot
T60p LCD becomes white on boot
For some reason, my T60p has recently started exhibiting some odd behavior. When it first started, the LCD would randomly brighten and make everything difficult to see. This eventually would progress to my screen going completely white, to the point where I could not see anything. This would usually take about 30 minutes to progress from a little bright to completely white. The brightening would start without warning at first, but now it's gotten to the point where, from the moment I turn on the laptop, the screen goes compleetely white. I see the Thinkpad logo for about 2 seconds, and when I let it boot, I can here the Windows startup sound. I have no idea what's wrong with it. Please help me! Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!
Sorry to hear of your trouble.
If you have an external monitor to connect your T60p and see if there is any video would be the first thing I would check.

Re: T60p LCD becomes white on boot
Most likely the LCD cable on the back of the LCD panel itself has become loose and needs to be reinserted.
When done, put an extra piece of (duct or similar) tape over the connector.

Re: T60p LCD becomes white on boot
Hi guys,
Ok so I disassembled the LCD and secured the connection, but no dice. It's still stark white like it was before. I hooked the laptop up to a monitor and it displayed everything just fine on the monitor. Laptop functioned normally too, so no other problems. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Re: T60p LCD becomes white on boot
the 2 things that come to mind for me are the lcd screen or the motherboard is the culprit, or possibly the lcd cable so make it 3 things (but I'd wager on the first 2 to be your problem).
Do you have access to a stash of parts to start swapping stuff around? Or have a local friend with said stash of parts?
Sorry to hear about your Thinkpad woes though!

detachable battery does not charge. White light, then amber, then off.
