Hello,

I recently acquired a couple T61's. I had a T400 with a fingerprint reader at my last job. Is it possible to retrofit one to my T61?
My model is 7661-E16.

What is the FRU and how do I find it on my machines?

No prob's - FRU = Field Replaceable Unit - Generally a circuit board, part or assembly that can be quickly and easily removed from a personal computer or other piece of electronic equipment, and replaced by the user or a technician without having to send the entire product or system to a repair facility.

With regards to my previous post, I have given you the FRU part number of the Palmrest with FPR according to the Hardware Maintenance Manual above (See pages: 126 & 127)

I believe I may have the part you need, send me a PM if you're interested. Installation takes only about two minutes, just four screws and a cable and you're done. You can then download and install the drivers from lenovo's website.
