Hello,
Has anybody managed to use a full/double-height pcmcia card on the 15,4" T61?
My pcmcia/expresscard combo slot has a divider in the middle the prevents inserting double-height cards.
The card I would like to use is a Xircom Realport modem/ethernet combo:
Thanks,
Kind regards

can double-height pcmcia cards be used on T61?
Thanks to Debian Linux my T61 is still kicking in 2015.

There are two different PCMCIA cages: Type 1) with standard + card-reader below it and Type 2) with standard + express above it.
The following are only guesses, never tried them!
In Type 1, you could probably remove the top of that cage, and then your Realport might fit.
You'd probably also need to remove some part of the palmrest above it...
In Type 2 (yours), you would have to remove the complete express-layer (incl. connector) and the divider between standard and express to make that Realport fit.

They looked like they were electronically soldered.RealBlackStuff wrote:There are two different PCMCIA cages: [...]

Can it be done so that the modification is reversible, that you know of?
