Virtual drive

#1 Post by Merlyn2009 » Sun Jan 15, 2012 6:00 pm

I'm trying to use the farstone virtual drive to load a few game cd's. Seems a smart little function, but some work and some don't. Does anyone have similar experiences? Anyone have advice on best methods? Thanks!

IIRC, some game discs have some copy protection mechanism involved, and some virtual drive software are more elaborated and able to circumvent them.

Cheers.

I personally use ElbySoft VirtualClone Drive (VCD). Use it on all my computers, regardless of ODD presence.

Also, as mentioned above, many 'games' will employ copy protection which will prohibit creation of an ISO/BIN image for use on ODD-less systems.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

Yes, I have been jaded by (purported) technocrats. Almost as jaded by the tech itself.
