When I use my computer late a night in a quiet environment, I hear a high pitched whine coming from what I believe is the hard drive (I think it stopped when the hard disks shut down due to inactivity). Is this common or is something wrong with my drive? The noise is very quiet, and some people can't even hear it; someone I was working with said she couldn't hear anything.

Normal... seems to be something you can't get away with in 1.8" drives. I've checked it with 3 of these hard drives(40GB 4200RPM 1.8"). Also, since the iPod also uses a 1.8" drive, it too makes the same noise when accessing it's drive.
