Need recovery disk for x41

#1 Post by Jonnydark » Sat Feb 11, 2012 5:23 pm

Hi all

I guess the recent update to xp cripples the wacom drivers. Pretty bad luck for me.

Does anyone have a recovery download or disk so i can revert to an older state? i have no system restore points to go back to.... *cries*

I don't even know how to do all of this.

Son of a gun.

Windows XP-Pro 2005 Tablet recovery CDs for an X41T.

These files were until recently freely available for download on M E G A U P L O A D.
However, the F B I just seized the website and closed it down. :(

If you find them elsewhere, they are all .ISO files which need to be burned onto a CD (not DVD).
I recommend using the (free) ImgBurn from http://www.imgburn.com

Sorry 'bout that.
Guess I'll remove the links, since they are no longer valid.

I'd first check IBM parts just in case they have any left.

Then eBay.

Making sure you check the p/n of your computer against what is on the first CD (I know there are at least two - basic x41 and tablet model, unsure if the latter covers both versions of the tablet (apparently some were built w/o fingerprint reader).

(General advice - after taking delivery of a computer, if you can't get recovery disc set as part of the deal, run the routine to make one - it sets a counter that will be wiped out by reinstallation of the SW load.)

Dishonest sites like megaupload should be shut down for fraud.
However, I doubt IBM/Lenovo care a whole lot about the recovery CD set for old computers, they make their money on hardware and some specialized SW.

Would be nice of Loonovo to provide an image on their web site to download.

Some people do.

I did have to buy a replacement disk set back when as one was defective.

errBay is a good idea for source.
