I recently purchased this IDC to microSATA converter: http://microsatacables.com/catalog/i196.html and a 1.8" OCZ Onyx SSD for my x31.
works flawlessly and very fast:

This is a really old thread but I still get questions on this. Looks like all the tables with data had been deleted due to age. I will repost them when I get home.

These are 1.8in HDD/SSD/CF for use in X40/X41/X41t

I want to thank virge for contributing the Samsung 32GB SSD data and ricerocket contributing the Kingspec 64GB SSD data. I added the fastest CFs and HDDs from other tables to make a list of fastest devices for the X40/X41/X41t 1.8 inch HDD slots.

The Kingspec is very fast for larger file sizes. The Sandisk SLC SSD remain the fastest for small file sizes.

I know it's an old thread, but it is the only place I found with any factual information about SDU5B-032G.

Does anyone know if this SSD supports TRIM?
And would it be comparable in performance to MMCRE64G8MXP?

I have it, albeit with a very old firmware. I used it in my X41T and is now moved to a Dell D430. I'm quite sure it does not support TRIM.

Can one upgrade firmware in a SSD?
Is it worth getting it for around ~30 bucks? It would be my first SSD, run as a main OS drive (I need 20gb for the os), paired with a HDD in Ultrabay.

In theory yes, yet I couldn't find any firmware upgrade anywhere on the net :?

Which Thinkpad do you want to use for it? IDE SSDs are not cheap normally. And if the OS alone needs 20GB I would rather go for a 60GB SSD. Generally speaking SSDs tend to loose performance when they're getting full.

It would be a partition of 20gb, so 12gb left would not be bad.

It is for R61 with SATA interface, but I'd be getting the drive here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DELL-R342C-Lati ... 1c302407e0
so it looks like it comes with SATA array

Don't bother then with the Sandisk!! The table you were checking was for old IDE drives :!:

Since an R61 will take any SATA SSD you will have plenty of choices. I personally would go for an Intel, Samsung 840 or Crucial SSD. Check locally about prices, I think you can get a 120GB model for quite a good price.

Yes, but I only need like 20gb of space for linux system, so there is no point in getting much more. I do not care for space. I care for performance and price.

My options are

1. This sandisk for 30 USD
+cheap

2. Sansisk 32GB SDSSDRC-032G-G26 for 50 USD
+fast?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... llFullInfo

3. ADATA Premier Pro SP600 ASP600S3-32GM-C 2.5" 32GB (is better/worse than no.2?)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820211717

4. SAMSUNG MMCRE64G8MXP-0VB 1.8" 64GB for ~54USD
+bigger
- need to buy adapter
- short/none warranty
- SATAII only
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820147132

I have not found anything else in similar price range.

I'll check 2.5" ones, they're normally cheaper...

Edit: I've heard as a rule of thumb that bigger drives are better performancers, I'm with you to buy the correct size, but if a bigger drive offers better price per MB than I'd go for it...
