Anyone running Bluestacks Android Emulator on X61T or X61?
Anyone running Bluestacks Android Emulator on X61T or X61?
Title pretty much says it all. I have downloaded the app player from Bluestacks.com on my X61T running W7 64-bit 1.8Ghz *Gb ram but repeatedly get a opening screen on which I click on the buttons but nothing opens...

Re: Anyone running Bluestacks Android Emulator on X61T or X61?
I was running it on my x61t for a little bit.
It was pretty buggy, this was hmm... proabably before August of 2013.
It ran pretty slow on my machine, worked better on my desktop, but still sucked.
I had only gotten it so I could advance in a game I played.
I eventually gotten tired of it and uninstalled, it made an annoying app folder.
I forgot if it needed a certain android rom(I'm guessing here) to run.
When I did ran it, it wouldn't use the whole window screen, only a certain part of it.
Plus it would switch to a different window area on the game pop ups I had.
It still needed work, I uninstalled it because it seemed like a buggy emulator.

Re: Anyone running Bluestacks Android Emulator on X61T or X61?
Saucey: I want to run Torque Pro which connects via a OBDII to USB adapter to the laptop and shows virtual gauges of info that the automobile's computer receives from various sensors.
I believe that the app player (different from gamepop) is supposedly a better beta version, but for me, the app player just freezes after it opens.
I don't know what a ROM is, but I know they are discussed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Bl ... App_Player
If you could tell me what a ROM does, that would probably help my learning curve. Then I could look for the appropriate one and find a way to install it.
Thanks

Re: Anyone running Bluestacks Android Emulator on X61T or X61?
Sorry it is a bit late.
I tried installing Bluestacks on my x61t, it failed to initialize because of my video card driver...
I think I am wrong with the rom comment, I'm mixing up video game emulators (ROMs are the game "image" that the emulator needs to play, essentially the game saved in an ISO format) with the different types of android there are (CM10, Liquidsmooth, AOKP, HTC Sense, Samsung Touchwiz, etc)
I don't think it pertains to bluestacks however.
Were you able to run Bluestacks and was able to configure x61t?
I hope that Torque Pro isn't limited to that OBDII being connected to bluetooth only.

It is late. No I get the opening screen and then maybe if I am lucky, a square box pops up around the button I have clicked and then nothing. Click again and not even a square box around the button.
Let's call it for tonight.

Re: Anyone running Bluestacks Android Emulator on X61T or X61?
darn, I ran into a mySQL error before I can post.
Yeah, I just installed Bluestacks and see what you mean.
It just hangs on the black screen, full screen or windowed.
It definately didn't do that, I was able to register my device and whatnot n got a gmail account too.
Yeah it is late, I think this beta version is a bad port, probably going to have to go back a few releases to get one working on the x61.
If not it might work on more powerful hardware, it was pretty slow on this laptop than my desktop when it did work.
I'll have time during sunday to figure more of this out.
I just hope they fixed the screen issue, sucks when you have a full screen of dark space minus the 3x7" space that is useable.

Re: Anyone running Bluestacks Android Emulator on X61T or X6
Sorry mods, I forgot what forum I was posting upon.
Anyways, it seems that Bluestacks is a real pain on the X61T.
I installed an older build on my W700DS, loads fine because of the processor.
So I tried that version as well on my X61T, doesn't work.
I also disabled app notifications and connecting to the app store and it doesn't work.
I tried doubleclicking the facebook app straight from the app folder and it still hangs on the bluestacks loading screen.
My guess is that the X61 is just too weak for the bluestacks.
I see the wifi LED blinking as if its connecting to the app store.
I really wish I knew which version I had. An April 2013 build didnt work nor did the August 2013 build...
But even then it was very very slow to use.

Re: Anyone running Bluestacks Android Emulator on X61T or X6
I tried Bluestacks on my X61 as well as my X61T and got the same result -- a home screen on which the buttons don't function. I will try it on my T61p and report back. Any one else have any luck with Bluestacks?
Re: Anyone running Bluestacks Android Emulator on X61T or X6
Bluestacks opens fine on my T61p. Since the T61p and the X61 and the X61 all have 8 Gb of ram and run the same intel processor, I guess there is a difference in the on board graphics between the T61p which opens Bluestacks and the X61 and X61T on which Bluestacks freezes after the opening screen?
Is there a PCMCI graphics card or another type of graphics dealy which I should add to the X series to see if I can get Bluestacks running on them?

Hmmm. I know there is that Broadcom HD Decoder but I believe that only works for YouTube and Netflix...
I'll try some other builds, unless perhaps its not working due to windows being updated.
Surprised your units didn't work, the X61T I have has only 4GB of RAM but with an SSD.

Re: Anyone running Bluestacks Android Emulator on X61T or X6
You might want to try AndroVM from androvm.org, which is Android running within a virtual machine via VirtualBox. I used it last year to access the Google Play store to download and try out some apps before actually installing them on a real Android smartphone. Worked pretty well for what i needed it for. Please note that AndroVM now also has a parallel commercial version named GenyMotion via www.genymotion.com which might possibly be even more useful.E350 wrote:thanks. Re: Anyone running Bluestacks Android Emulator on X61T or X6
Thank you rombero for that suggestion.
I have found the anroid-x86 project and was able to download and burn an iso file to disk to boot android 4.3 Jelly Bean from (not the current 4.4 KitKat). And it seems to be working on my X61T.
Please see:
http://www.android-x86.org/
Also see where it states that X61T is a supported device, but that a virtual machine will also work for porting android to a non-supporting PC as you suggested:
http://www.nextofwindows.com/windowsand ... n-windows/
along with:
http://www.nextofwindows.com/install-an ... -pctablet/
and thank you Saucey for your help.

Re: Anyone running Bluestacks Android Emulator on X61T or X6
Thanks Rumbero and E350, now I'll be able to play Angry Birds and other apps in HD on my X61T again!!
I do see installing that thing on one of my units as a sales gimmick once I get rid of them.

This appears to be even better than that AndroVM thing. Thanks for pointing us to this additional option!E350 wrote:I have found the anroid-x86 project and was able to download and burn an iso file to disk to boot android 4.3 Jelly Bean from (not the current 4.4 KitKat).
