So I was hit with the dreaded "Stuck Key Error" last night. When researching it, I noticed that a common question people asked was, "Are you using a dock?" From there, the conversation derails, so I never know WHY they are asking this :)

Is there a known issue where a dock creates the Stuck Key Error? It seems like I can get past it by rebooting w/o the dock. It also seems to happen intermittently when connected to the dock.

My guess is that it's a common enough error if one assumes that there's also an external keyboard connected to the dock. It's easy to forget that there's another keyboard, with some books or other junk laid on top of it, that can cause the stuck key error. I've got several X60 systems and they are almost always connected to an X6 Ultrabase and I've never had this problem. Yes, it may be a different matter if those X60 systems were connected to a true docking station but the docking port signals should be the same between them. I would also assume that the external keyboard interfaces between an Ultrabase and docking station are the same, but then again, that could be an invalid assumption.

If your dock does not have any keyboard attached, then I'd consider swapping out the dock and see if the problem persists. If your dock DOES have an attached keyboard, then try disconnecting the keyboard and see if that makes a difference. If it does, then perhaps the keyboard is defective (one key is intermittently making contact when it shouldn't).

Thanks. I have tried utilizing a different USB port on the dock and -knock on wood-, things seem to be ok thus far...
