How to find if a Thinkpad was stolen?

With the serial number, can one find if a Thinkpad was stolen?

Looking to buy one on ebay and prefer to check if it was stolen.
Tried with Lenovo and they claim that they do not have any info.

Unless the party from which it was stolen filed a police report that includes the serial number, I can't think of any way to tell.

They don't.

Realistically, there is no way of finding out. Common sense is one's best friend in this respect.

I think if you have a concern don't buy it there.

Post a want to buy on this forum in the marketplace.

Sellers here are very trustworthy in my opinion.
