Wireless Connection Drops

While online my internet connection suddenly stops working about every one to three days.

When coming out of Sleep the internet connection works half of the time but seems to be working less and less.

For several years now I have used the diagnostic and repair from control panel as a fix and it has only worked once.

The solution for the above has been a reboot, which works 100%, but is time waste; I am having to reboot more these days.

I am not sure which system is in control of my laptop's wireless and have included a photo of my Taskbar to show. Currently running services include: AcSvc.exe, AcLaunchWirelessLanUI.exe, ACTray.exe, ACWLicon.exe, SvcGuiHlpr.exe, AcPrfMgrSvc.exe. If 'Windows Wireless Service" is running I don't know how to find it. My Access Connections 4 v 4.52 (photo-C) says "the current wireless connection is being managed by the Windows Wireless Service or another service".

I am not sure of what exactly to do to make my internet connection better. I have updated Vista from MS to help but it was mostly security related. I don't have SP1 or 2 installed, I tried several ways to have them installed but MS update didn't list it for me to install. I would have to manually install it, which I didn't do.

In device manager, go into properties for your wireless card, advanced tab, and disable power saving mode for the adapter. See the post by jdhurst in this thread -

In that same thread is another good thought by simonjs.

Thank you for the reply.

I looked around in several places for the performance power setting and found it once in the Power Options window, I added a photo of the change I made. Is there other location (s) that need a change in this Power-Performance setting?

Under Device Manager then Network Adapters, I found two error codes, see photo. The Realtek & Broadcom report they are working correctly. The Broadcom 802.11g adapter is, if I understand correctly, the main adapter that drives my wireless. The Teredo & 6TO4 are new to me and I don't know what they are. Do these things need fixing?

Thanks again.

To answer your question properly, I would have to boot into Windows...an activity I don't do frequently. Hopefully someone else can be more specific.

From Device Manager I had to log-in to find the other power settings, they did not fix the problem. In "Device Manager - Network Adapters" I then tried to update drivers and received a message that they were up to date. Now that I think about it, one way to refresh these drivers is to rollback to previous driver, then do the update. Anyway I didn't do that.

I started to disable drivers and then enable them (which seems a safe step), one actually got me back onto the internet. But this was short lived and the connection started to get worse, only allowing me on for an hour or so.

I fixed the problem by going to the Lenovo site and downloading-installing Access Connections 5.33. So far it is working fine, only three days now though. I hope this is the solution and it seems like it might be. It hasn't dropped me while online, it has worked after "sleep", and I can turn the internet on and off at will. So I plan to keep my stick on the ice and my fingers crossed, eh.

The GUI is a bit snappier, but some things have been removed, check it out:
