Running Out of HDD Space

Both SpaceSniffer and WinDirStat is reporting 30GB of "unknown" space under C:\. After reading other posts, I checked the system restore point using vssadmn. Max is set at 6 GB. I used CCleaner to clean up the drive. I am using Vista Home Premium.

How can I recover the space? Thanks for your help.

Look for a hidden folder called C:\RRBackups and delete any backup files in it. Alternately you should be able to go into the rescue and recovery program and delete backups from there.

Thanks for the reply. I did not, however, set up auto backup, and there is no hidden folder with RRbackup name. In fact, none of the hidden folders have anywhere close to 30 GB of files!

Is there a recovery partition on this drive?

What is the size of the recovery partition? If you go into disk management it should tell you.

Harry, many thanks! Helped on R61 and with removing 5 backups thru R&R console, I've gained a whooping 60 GB.

If you have system restore enabled, that can take a big chunk of space too.
