Recording from sound card internally on X220

Hi, since X220 does not have individual microphone and headphone jacks, it makes it impossible to loop audio in order to record playback.
This is especially important when trying to use screen capture programs like cam studio.
The error I am getting is WaveoutGetSelectControl() failed which is discussed here http://camstudio.org/forum/discussion/3 ... -failed/p1 but most of the workarounds do not work in X220 for some reason because it also has just one audio out and recording device.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to record sound that's being played-back? I tried to record from microphone, but it does not work either, most likely due to noise cancellation (system is probably trying to avoid feedback by muting the recording device when there is a playback at the same time, some sort of echo stopping feature?). :??: I get like 1 second sound then it it muted.

Thank you, this is pretty cool. It works nice but I can't hear what is playing back when I need to record using VAC.
Is there anyway to duplicate the output to speakers? In my playback devices I can only select either Speakers or VAC.

Yes. Read the section titled Simple Cable Usage in the user manual (file vac.chm in the installation folder). It discusses the Audio Repeater, which can do precisely what you want.

I guess I got excited.. You are right. All I had to do is change the default output to VAC and then select recording device as VAC and say "Listen" and Playback through on-board sound. It works that way, but the hardware volume buttons don't work then. It is OK for the time being then I switch the output back to on-board sound.

Thanks again, it works great.
